Introducing “A Curious Faith”
Welcome! You have come to a space designed to focus on the curious faith of being followers of Christ.
The title, “A Curious Faith,” is intended as a double entendre, that is, it has two meanings built within it. The first being a faith that invites curiosity. From the very beginning God used questions to help his people become curious about what we have done and who we are. Through a closer examination of the questions God asks and questions asked of God, we can understand both God and ourselves better.
The second message of the title is a faith that is curious, meaning “exciting attention as strange, novel, or unexpected.” The choice to follow Jesus will lead to places that are strange and unexpected.
In 2005, my husband and I were gifted with a trip to Sweden. During this visit, friends took us to visit Lecko Castle. While we were touring, several cabinets were pointed out to us. These intricate pieces were full of doors and drawers, and originally held papers, coins, minerals, shells, and miniatures. An evening with guests could be spent pulling out various items, provoking stories and questions. The host would indulge the guests curiosities of tales of how they cam to possess these curiosities.
It is my desire that this website contain doorways into curiosity and wonder. That the elements of faith can be met with awe and wonder. That our hearts would open to God’s questions, and that we will feel free to ask God questions. May our imaginations be ignited to consider “A Curious Faith.”
